Raw Nerves - LP

IR020 - Released June 29th, 2010
Copies:N/A
Band Status: Active

With members playing in hardcore punk bands for the better part of the last two decades, along with some younger energy and blood, Raw Nerves sound is a collection of those influences, ultimately coming back to what they know best: anger and speed. Musically, they hold a nice balance between classic early 80's hardcore like Negative Approach, Black Flag and Poison Idea to the late 80s/early 90s sounds of Citizens Arrest, Born Against, Econochrist, along with more modern bands such as Acts of Sedition, or Sacred Shock. Lyrically, they interweave boiling political dissections and intelligent sarcasm without ignoring the personal implications the fucked up world we live in has on all of us. But don't be fooled; they are not a white flag of surrender or nihilistic indulgence, but rather a call to arms. One time press of 500 and an mp3 download is included.

Fix My Head / Knife in the Leg - Split LP

IR019 - Released March 23rd, 2010
Copies: LP 350 black vinyl, 200 red vinyl
Band Status: Both Active

The bay area meets poland on this split 12". The Fix My head side features 6 short bursts of pure rage in the tradition of Crudos and Talk Is Poison, updating the classic hardcore sound for the modern age. On the flipside, hailing from Lublin, Poland, Knife in the Leg take a more measured approach. More melodic, with each listen boaring hooks deeper into your mind. Southern California HC would be a good starting point but it certainly doesn't end there.

Funerot - And Then You Fucking Die Man

IR018 - Released January 26th, 2010
Copies: LP 550
Band Status: Active

After escaping the vast dimensions of space and time, FUNEROT has returned to the dust of Earth to explore the hall of a dingy mausoleum. Fourteen tombs line the interior split between opposing walls. On pillars of stone, strange symbols are engraved and these support the structure. The stench of death permeates. Outside amongst the rotting vines and curled branches is built a locked gate which in the iron is scripted "And Then You Fucking Die, Man."

Preying Hands - Through the Dark

IR017 - Released June 2009
Copies: CD 532, LP 1000
Band Status: Active

Upon returning from a European tour late in 2006, Ballast promptly broke up. 3/5th of the band would continue to play together and soon would form PREYING HANDS including new members whose previous efforts included Montreal bands Snake Master, Desperate Living and Last Days. The sound seamlessly blends an odd combination of crust, melodic hardcore and a touch of pop punk. The powerful female vocals, that lyrically combine the personal with the political, complete an intense picture. Production was handled on this debut effort by Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire, weird...) at the Pines and mastered at Mammoth Sound by Dan Randall (Limp Wrist, Government Warning). The whole thing is packaged in a beautiful three panel fold out for the CD and including a digital download card with the LP.

Jesus Fucking Christ - Life's Hateful Seed

IR015 - Released July 26, 2008
Copies: LP 666 copies, CD 550
Band Status: Active

Building on their Poison Idea meets the Accused sound, JESUS FUCKING CHRIST has added some metallic flourishes with a thicker guitar sound and some intense and heavy mid tempo sections. Dave Ed's (Neurosis) handled the production in house this time around. Dave's voice is more prominent on many of the tracks, going from backing vocals to a full second vocalist. Larry's guitar work has only gotten more intense with the addition of occasional frantic punk rock solos throughout the album. Lyrically, the songs lash out at everything from punk scene politics and institutions to co-workers and the city they are from while always remaining firmly in the negative. All in all, this album accomplishes what any excellent second album does: builds and expands on the framework set by the first and never disappoints. Limited to 666 copies

Ballast - Fuse

IR014 - Released Feb. 19, 2008
Copies: LP 500, CD 500
Band Status: Disbanded

The second full length from Montreal's Ballast shows a maturity and intense growth often unattained in the melodic crust/ peace punk scene. 10 tracks of intense female fronted hardcore including a Post Regiment cover, falling between the aforementioned band, Lost World and perhaps Tragedy. Each song showing they took the time to develop the melody that will stick with you rather than be processed and quickly filed away. An amazing release worth it's praise. Domestic release remastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound.

SAHN MARU - Never Too Late

IR013 - Released Sept. 11, 2007
Copies: CD 510, LP 523
Band Status: Active

Following up their self released seven inch comes a 10 song full length crusher from the Bay Area's SAHN MARU. D-beat crust that is vocally reminiscent of mid era Logical Nonsense and lyrically and musically, the heavy darkness of His Hero Is Gone comes to mind. Members of Blown to Bits, Death Mold, Noxious Prix and the Murderers for those who need that info. For fans of State of Fear, HHIG, Anti Cimex and Skitsystem.

Funerot - Nova 2

IR012 - Released July 17, 2007
Copies: LP: 500(Split release with Selfish Satan Records)
Band Status: Active

Full on old school thrash attack from these guys. Picking up where their Razorback debut, "Invasion From The Death Dimension," left off, "Nova 2" sounds like it should have been released the year most of these guys were born! 5 originals and a cover of "Whiplash"(!)'s Spit On Your Grave are included on this thrasher. Lyrically revolving around science fiction and all things thrash, this is as authentic as you can get. Artwork once again handled in Reuben's trademark gory fashion.

Sping Break! / Zombie Ritual - Split

IR011 - Released July 17, 2007
Copies: 7": 500
Band Status: Both Active

A split of total misfit grind. Tokyo's Zombie Ritual continue down their near obsessive path of zombie themed thrashing gore grind. One the other side is the similarly one track minded Spring Break!, from the sunny lands of San Diego it seems obvious that their grind would revolve around the topics of the beach, malt liquor and weed. The only was you would know that is what you were experincing is to read the lyrics, as musically it is as ripping as you can get. Recorded in the same session as their up coming split with Cross Examination. Artwork done by Impaled's Sean "Bloodbath" McGrath.

Slightly Less Than Nothing - Less Fashion, More Thrashin!

IR010 - Released March 27th 2007
Copies: LP: 500 clear splatter vinyl
Band Status: Disbanded but 3/4 continue as Nothing's Changed

Quite a mouthful but held within the vinyl is 13 raging thrashers of out of control hardcore. I had called the first ep from two years ago "skate thrash stoner grind" as that was the only thing that made sense. It is still an apt description but add to that and oldschool hardcore sensibility.

Oroku - Living Through The End Time...

IR009 - Released October 31st 2006
Copies: CD: 1st Press 510, 2nd press 1000
Band Status: Inactive

The full length debut from these Lawrence, KS transplants. Now finding Seattle as their home, they have recorded this ten song apocalyptic beast (the CD also has their 3 song EP as bonus tracks, remastered, 13 songs total). With the addition of Lisa from Garmonbozia ..o their sound has taken a turn for the worse, and that is the best news you can hear! Once compared to From Ashes Rise, this is no longer the case. Now they have a Remains Of The Day meets doom (the genre) meets filthy crust thing happening. The whole thing looks great in a silver, black and red packaging. They have toured the US 5 times in support of a seven inch and have kids clamoring for their return. They are currently in Europe about to do a two month tour. Recorded at the Autopsy Room by Jesse O'Donnell (Skarp, Splatterhouse, etc.), also features guest vocals from Renae of Skarp.

After playing in and around the Bay Area for a couple of years Oakland's JESUS FUCKING CHRIST makes it's recorded debut with this self titled rager. Featuring punk and metal veterans Dave Edwardson from the legendary NEUROSIS on bass and vocals and Larry from THE RICKEETS as well as LARRY AND THE GO NOWHERES on guitar and vocals. For fans of old school Northwest hardcore like the ACCUSED or POION IDEA as well as anyone looking for something like the sounds of the earliest NEUROSIS records.

This is a DOUBLE LP/CD complete collection of all the works of this essential Seattle Anarcho-Crust band. Includes everything from the demo, the first two seven inches, the splits with Toxic Narcotic, Brother Inferior, Mark Bruback and all the compilation tracks. The songs are fully remastered and sound amazingly powerful. An amazing band representing a time before most political bands played grind in short angry bursts.
